Welcome to Stephen Sporthorses Online. Stephen Sporthorses are situated in the small wine village of Martinborough, just over an hours drive from Wellington, NZ. The Partnership was formed as a business in 2002 in order to breed our own horses for future competition. The mother & daughter team have been around horses all their lives with Charlene competing ponies in the local sports as far back as the 1950s. Anna has been riding since she was just 4 years old. She attended the Martinborough Branch of the South Wairarapa Pony Club for a number of years and during this time made several regional teams including the South Wairarapa Timberlands Eventing Team twice, Wairarapa / Wellington Area Pony Club Champs Team South Wairarapa Showjumping Team three times. Anna still attends the Martinborough Pony Club as an instructor.
Showjumping however is Anna’s passion and this is where she decided to specialise shortly after moving on to hacks. She has previously competed to World Cup Level with Justaboy, a horse she broke-in & produced herself and Black Boy who was recently sold to Japan. Anna is currently Showjumping Grand Prix with Constantine, another self-produced TB.
During this time, Anna has added several National Titles to her credit including winning the 5 & 6 year old Horse of the Year Titles with Misconception, the NZ 7 year old Series with Constantine, Two NZ Speed Horse of the Year Titles with Dealer LS and Constantine, and more recently, the National Derby Championship with Constantine.
In April 2011, Anna was selected to represent NZ as a member of the Senior Show Jumping Team to compete at Seoul in the CSI* KRA Cup where she was placed 5th in the Individual event.
Anna has been training under NZ Olympic Showjump rider Grant Cashmore since the Winter of 2006 and is a current member of the NZ Over 21 Development Squad which sees her attending regular Training Clinics with Elite Coaches from both NZ and Overseas.
Anna is available for Coaching and Schooling and/or Competition.
A limited number of horses are taken throughout the year for Schooling & Competition by the Stephen Partnership. Anna is also available for lessons and clinics, at your place or at ours. At Stephen Sporthorses, we believe that each horse is different and therefore all horses in our care are allowed to develop their own special personalities.
